Mask

Last Monday (26/7), we had given an assignment to do our own mask. One with our skin colour and another one is black and white with emotion.

So we started doing it by tearing mahjong paper...

Then stick the paper onto the face with glue

But, the result seem failed.....

Hence, we need to do it again on the next day! This time we cut A4 paper then glue the paper layer by layer....

I now shaping my eye of the mask..

Dots and Lines

This is about another assignment we need to do called dots and line. We need to take two picture of HBP building then draw it we dots and line only. The duration for the assignment is 2 weeks but because i m busy with other assignment, i do it the day before the due date... really tough! This assignment really a good challenge for me to train my patience.. I take almost the whole day to draw this two picture!

Bamboo Sound Tool (BST)

Last Friday, our studio assignment was to make a bamboo sounds tool(BST). That is we need to use part of the bamboo like leaf or culm or any other part to make a music instrument. Then we need to write about 100 words to describe our bamboo instrument. Then we started to do our own instrument right after the class because we need to attend the orientation with senior in the afternoon. Luckily there was a lot of bamboo clusters inside the campus of USM. My friends and I decided to do our bamboo tools near the tasik aman there. The music instrument that i do is maracas.

Bamboo sense

Last Friday(23 july), Mr Rusli show us some picture about a hand craft basket that is made from bamboo. Then he wan us use only words to describe the basket. Our words should describe the basket from 3 aspect that is 'what we see', 'what we heard' and 'what we smell' and also should include the form, space,light, colour and texture. So, all the words that i can think from my brain is as shown in the image below....

Natural Structure : Bamboo

Last monday (19 july), during our afternoon class, we need to walk around 10min to Rumpun Buluh Research Village USM that situated outside the USM campus. The purpose for going this place is to explore the site to find a bamboo cluster. Besides, when we reach there we have to draw 15 sketches in 15min, that is really tough and i have no idea what i had sketch out....

Then our assignment is to draw 5 sketches of bamboo and 1 with colour.

Me, My Thoughts and I

In this project, we have given a scenario like the movie 2012, that time USM has created a PONDOK (Polar Shift and Other Natural Disaster Organisation Kit) as a temporary shelter for people of Penang Island. Then our task is we need to identify the USM invention for 2012 and beyond. I have to study one of the invention of USM and suggest how this invention can become part of a PONDOK or suggest how the invention may contribute to the recostruction of USM/Penang after the disaster. The invention that i choose is Compact Elite Cell Photobioreactor that had been created by USM in year 2005. I think it is a very useful tool so i give my suggestion on what this device can contribute for the reconstruction of USM/Penang after the disaster.

We need to present our thing in a A2 board and write our words in 3mm space.

What I Heard

Today is the day that i have my first class in the School of Housing, Building and Planning in University Science Malaysia(USM).

At the beginning of the class, our lecturer, Mr. Wan Burhanuddin Wan Abidin, start with asking us ‘What is APEX?’. A few student answer the question, but is like not accurate enough. then Mr. Wan Burhanuddin show us the graph below. Then he ask us who is the Naib Canselor of USM. This is important because at the bottom-left of the graph, the DAR is the name of our Naib Canselor, that is Profesor Tan Sri Dato' Dzulkifli Abd Razak.

Transformation in this graph mean change and Status-Quo is the existing state or condition. So it mean that we need to change to have a better tomorrow, better future. APEX is actually stand for Accelerated Program for Excellent. The student under this program need to be fast, quick, rapid and excellent. If you think that you are not this kind of student, you just need to transform to be like that.

Then, Mr. Wan Burhanuddin share with us about what is production. From the diagram at the left, we can know that every production start with an intention that carry out by an actor (People), follow by an action that are restricted by some rule(Principal) then only can produce the product that we want. This product must can occupied a space (Place).

As a APEX student, we need to have APEX intention, APEX action, APEX product, APEX rule and APEX place.

So there got 3 important element that is needed to have a production, that is People, Principal and Place. In short, we call it 3P. Without one of this element, no production can be produce. Mr. Wan Burhanuddin give us an example about world cup, the 3P in world cup is player(People), FIFA rule(Principal) and a world class stadium(Place).

For this part, when lecturer talk about student, he call up some student name to know more about them. Then for studio masters, he let the studio master that will help or teach us in this RUS 101 to introduce themselves. Before the end of the class, lecturer give us our first assignment that is design our virtual home(blog) and log what we heard in our first class.
